Martin was the father of 10,,,,11 children... He was pulling stumps, with a mule, when a chain broke, breaking both his legs and giving him internal injuries...which proved fatal......... He had told his daughter Bessie, "Never get between the mule and the stump"' but he failed to follow his own advice.... Selona was pregnant when Martin was killed, Myrtle Elizabeth (Rosemary) was born after he died....... His oldest son was Bureal "Burr" who had injured his leg, and would be lame in that leg for his entire life.... The McLaughlin family looks to originally be McGlocklin,,,, during the Civil War, it appears that the name was altered to McLaughlin,,,,, a typographical error. Some of the family kept the name McLaughlin,,,,most went by McGlocklin..
