bituary - Sioux County Capital - December 11, 1958 Services held here Friday for Nick Vander Kooi Nick Vander Kooi passed away December 2 at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, after an illness of two months, due to cancer. Funeral services were held, Saturday, December 6, at the Van Etten Funeral Home with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Pallbearers were A.L. Jensen, Earl Smith, Gerreit de Grotenheuis, George Vande Brake, George Foreman, and George Baker. Vander Kooi was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Vander Kooi. He was born in Middleburg on November 9, 1899. He was 59 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by two sisters and a brother; Mrs. Gertie Grifhorst or Orange City, Mrs. Rena Hansen of Long Beach, Calif., and Peter Vander Kooi of Sioux City. His parents, one sister, Mrs. Dick Tiemersma, and a brother preceded him in death. Out-of towners present for the funeral included Pete Vander Kooi and Judy Vander Kooi, of Hinton; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vander Kooi of Merrill; and from Hull, Mrs. Wm. Pals, Mrs. Minnie Visser, Mrs. Johanna Koele, Mrs. Sidney Boogerd, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Vander Kooi, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Vander Kooi and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Vander Kooi.
