Bio

Lucy Ann Whitman was born in Pennsylvania, daughter of William and Margaret Whitman: sister of Wm., Jane E. (Nichols), Samuel and a sister, M. She married Jacob Karnes on November 11, 1852 in Venango County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Henry County, Illinois in 1854; in 1879 they moved to Saunders County, Nebraska, then in 1883, the family moved to a homestead east of Concord, Dixon County, Nebraska. Lucy and Jacob Karnes were the parents of three sons and two daughters: Thomas H., Charles S., Harry B., Ella M., and Kittie M.
