Eleanora Grace Johnson, 85, of Aurora died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in Aurora. Eleanora was born in Clarks in 1926 to Joseph and Annie (Walden) Gorgen. Eleanora married Maynard Johnson on June 7, 1953, at Central City. Survivors are: husband, Maynard Johnson of Aurora; sons and daughters-in-law, Lyndon and Shelli Johnson of Topeka, Kan., Lyle and Rosalinda Johnson of Lincoln and Dale Johnson of Anaheim, Calif.; sister, Jeri Roshone of Valentine; grandchildren, Jacob, William, Dylan and Hannah; a sister-in-law, June Johnson and a host of relatives and friends in the community. Eleanora graduated from Central City High School in 1944. She worked as a chief operator at Northwestern Bell. She stayed at home and raised their three sons. Her true labor of love was doing things for her family and helping others in the community, using her talents of sewing and cooking. They lived in the Hordville and Hampton areas, before moving to Aurora. Eleanora was a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Eleanora was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gilbert Gorgen. Inurnment was in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on January 24, 2012
