Son of Joe & Annie (Walden) Gorgen. Grew up in Central City; graduated from Central City High School in 1943; was a talented athlete, lettered in football, basketball and track. Military: U.S. Navy during World War II; was stationed in the South Pacific, 1943-1946. After discharge, attended Nebraska Christian College in Central City; worked for Safeway in 1947 as a meatcutter Married: Sept. 3, 1950, to Betty Lynch. Went to work at Kaufmann-Wernert Store in Kearney, 1954' spent 32 years working as a retailer; also worked 20 years for Bob's Super Store in Kearney until illness prevented him from working; was proud to be working at 81 years of age. Activities: took pride in his flowers and working outside; member of First Presbyterian Church in Kearney; had served as president of the Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Diane Panowicz of Kearney and Lisa Franklin of Lincoln; and sisters, Eleanora Johnson of Aurora and Jeri Roshone of Valentine; also granddaughters, Shawn Koch and husband, Sgt. Travis Koch, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Megan Franklin of Lincoln and Emily Franklin of Omaha; grandson, Nate Panowicz of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Keegan Koch of Colorado Springs; eight nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Ron Panowicz of Kearney; and brother-in-law, Maynard Johnson of Aurora.
