Selma Lydia was born to the late Otto and Minnie Muegge Kramer. She was baptized on June 30, 1901, by Pastor Gustav Szillat at St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem, Austin County, Texas, and she was confirmed on April 2, 1915, by Pastor John Link at St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church (now St. Paul's United Church of Christ) in Gerald, McLennan County, Texas. Selma married John C. Seith on July 1, 1926, in Tours, McLennan County, Texas.
