James Joseph Murphy passed away January 16, 2004 at the young age of 61. James was born January 10, 1943 in Joplin, MO to parents John Patrick and Janie Josephine Zaidle Murphy. James attended Palmer High School where he met and married Jessie Lou Coker in 1959. James was a member of the Cotter & Company / True Value Hardware family of employees for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He is survived by his wife Jessie Lou Coker Murphy, of Palmer, TX. Four children: Daughters, Sonja Murphy, of Ennis, TX, Stephanie Roach of Ennis, TX, Shelley Murphy of Palmer, TX and one son Thomas Murphy of Palmer, TX. Four grandchildren who began the tradition of calling him Tat: James Joshua Murphy of Palmer, TX, Rodney Roach, of DeSoto, TX, Jessica Murphy Smith, of Ennis, TX and Haley Roach of Ennis, TX. Two great-granddaughters: Kristen Frymire of DeSoto, TX and Hannah Smith of Ennis, TX. One son-in-law, Tony Roach of Ennis, TX. Step-father Ray Addison of Ennis, TX. Brother Rex Murphy of Ennis, TX. Sisters Patricia Yelsma of Kemp, TX and Joy Moore, of Ennis, TX. Father-in-law Aubrey Coker of Carls Corner, TX. Numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Tommy and Billy Murphy, and nephew Rex Murphy, Jr. There will be no services, per his request, but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Southwest Transplant Foundation, 221 W. Colorado Blvd, Ste 100, Dallas, TX 75208-2359.
