Bio

Mr. Rex Brown Murphy (PaPa) passed away on March 12th, 2024 in Midlothian, Tx. He was 75 years old. Rex was born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 28th, 1948 to Janie Josephine and John Patrick Murphy. He was one of six children. He graduated from Ennis High School in 1968, where he then went on to work various jobs before starting his career with the Southern Pacific & Union Pacific Railroad. He worked and traveled with them for over 30 years before retiring in 2011. He was a loving father, husband, son, brother, PaPa (and "Old PaPa") and life long friend to many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Janie & John Murphy, and Ray Addison; his wife Lois Elizabeth Murphy; his three children Kerri, Rex Jr, and Shawn Murphy; his siblings Tommy, Billy, Jimmy, and Joy. Rex was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 15th, 2024, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, TX. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 10 a.m. also in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis. There will be a graveside service following at Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
