Bio

Joy Lynn Moore, 61, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, after battling cancer for over two years, with family and friends at her side. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014, at J. E. Keever Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at Bible Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Joy Lynn was born in Midland, Texas, to John Patrick and Janie (Zaidle) Murphy, the youngest of six children. She attended Ennis Schools and graduated in 1974. In 1978, she married Chuck Moore. Joy worked at several jobs during her lifetime. She always did some type of "hands on" work using her strength and vitality. Early on in her career, she was employed for several years at Ennis Business Forms where she operated a machine. Next, she worked at Walgreen's warehouse doing "picking" as goods came by on conveyor belt. She then went to PetSmart and handled heavy materials on a daily basis. After that at Sterilite, she was again in the warehouse doing heavy work. The job she had prior to being diagnosed with cancer was at Mid-Tex in Midlothian. She was employed there for almost 10 years, working outdoors each and every day, hot or freezing, and she very seldom missed work unless the road conditions prevented her from driving. She was such a loyal, dedicated employee. Her co-workers were inspired by her enthusiasm as well as her courageous fight to survive. Joy had a passion for animals, especially cats. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Gospel Hymns, Czech music and Country Classic. Her greatest love however, was for her children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, and all her nieces and nephews. Joy was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Ennis and was faithful until her health prevented her from attending services. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and brothers: Tommy, Billy and Jimmy Murphy. Joy is survived by her daughters, Kelly Renea Black and Jacklyn Josephine Hooten; grandson, Bryan Norton and wife, Haley; granddaughters, Shannon Renea Norton and Tori Lynn Lindley; great-grandson, Tate Elliot Norton; sister, Patricia Yelsma; brother, Rex Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her special cat, Doby.
