Bio
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Jayroe, former resident of the Osage community, were held Monday in Gatesville. Rev. J. W. Hodges officiated, with burial in Osage Cemetery. Mrs. Jayroe died Sunday in Gatesville hospital after a long illness. She was 80. Mrs. Jayroe was born Miss Lou Creasie Clearman in Kingsland. She and Mr. Shirley Jayroe were married in 1901, and lived in the Osage community until 18 months ago, when they moved to Gatesville. Mr. Jayroe died last January. Surviving are two sons, R. W. Jayroe of Gatesville and Dude Jayroe of Mountainair, N. M.; two daughters, Mrs. Herman Anderson of Crawford and Mrs. Mabel Hartwick of Waco; two brothers, Jake Clearman of Oglesby and Bob Clearman of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Charlie Robinson of Moody, Mrs. J. B. Swift of Gatesville and Mrs. Alex Hallmark of Bronte; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Source: Waco Times Herald, July 19, 1960
