Bio
Orville Carl Alexander, age 77, of 23 Stratford Manor, passed away Saturday, August 3, at Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland following a lengthy illness. Born June 15, 1914 in the Ruth community, he was the son of the late John E. and Louise Phelps Alexander. Survivors include his wife, Alice Irene Parks Alexander, whom he married on November 24, 1973 in Somerset; a son, Donald Ray Alexander of Somerset; two stepsons, Jerry Parks of Alton, Illinois and Bill Parks of Barberton, Ohio; five brothers, Arlie, Oather, John, and Robert "Bob" Alexander, all of Somerset, and Rev. Roy Alexander of Science Hill; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby Mercer Alexander, who passed away April 16, 1973; a daughter, Mary Louise West; a brother, Harold Alexander; and an infant sister. Mr. Alexander was a former teacher with the Pulaski County School System, a grocery store owner, a real estate salesman, and Elder of Southside Church of Christ. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 6 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Arthur Ogden and Jerry Parks officiating. Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pulaski Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
