Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Aug. 19, 1994 Robert John "Buster" Vackar recently passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14 in Gonzales. A life-long resident of Gonzales, Vackar was married to Edna Askey and a member of the Gonzales Golf Association. Born Feb. 28, 1912 in Gonzales to Charles Vackar and Mary Julia Fischna, Vackar was an auto salesman for much of his life. He married his wife on March 24, 1940 in Gonzales. The had two children, daughter Mary Linda and son Walter Askey. Vackar was a 1929 graduate of Gonzalez High School and attended Allen Academy in Byron, Texas. He served in the U. S. Navy fury World War II and as a deacon at the Presbyterian Church of Gonzales. Vackar was also a member of the Men of the Church. Funeral services took place Aug. 16 at the Seydler-Hill Funetal Home with the Rev. Kevin Boyd and zowen McGarity officiating. Interment followed at the Odd Fellow Cemetery.
