Arthur C. Roach, 93, passed away Friday, October 30, 1998 in San Antonio, Texas. Arthur was born in Laredo, Texas on September 16, 1905. The family moved to Corpus Christi where Arthur graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1923. He went to work for the Post Office in 1926 and worked there until his retirement in 1961. He then sold real estate for a number of years before settling into full time Grand and Great Grandparenthood, as well as volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other organizations. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and then St. Pius X Catholic Church. Arthur produced a family genealogy before computer research was available. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Kathy in 1969 and son Michael in 1989. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lora K. Roach; daughters: Beatrice Fagan and Evelyn Roach both of San Antonio, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Margaret Roach of Austin, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Ed Roach and wife Len of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Joe Roach and wife Jean of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Stella Roach of Los Angeles, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, November 2, 1998 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Kevin Fagan, Brian Fagan, Will Fagan, Mark Roach, Chris Roach, David Roach and Patrick Roach. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
