Daughter of John and Elizabeth (Barnes) Reed. Married Andrew Jackson on April 30, 1866 at her parents' home in Competine Township, Wapello County, Iowa. '''''''''''''''''''''''''' Fullerton Post (Fullerton, Nebr.), February 13, 1913, p. 5, col. 2 Melinda Reed was born in Jefferson county, Iowa; was married to Andrew Jackson; moved from Iowa to Missouri, then back to Iowa and later to Nebraska where she resided until death. To this union were born eight children, five girls and three boys. A husband and three children preceded her to the Glory World. There is left to mourn her loss, two children, Charles Jackson, and Emma Gallagher, two brothers, twenty grand-children and five great grand-children, beside her many friends.
