Her middle name was originally Viola. Her obituary and gravestone mistakenly give the year of her birth as 1878; it was actually 1874. Daughter of Andrew and Malinda (Reed) Jackson. Married (1) Amos Gallagher on September 25, 1890 at Corning, Iowa. Married (2) Jarvie Carrigan on July 14, 1936 at Stevenson, Washington. Mother of 15 children by her first marrige. '''''''''''''''' Hood River News (Hood River, Oregon), May 1, 1958, p. 4, col. 4 Emma Arlene Carrigan Emma Arlene Carrigan, 80, died at her home at 1612 "C" street in Hood River on April 25 and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Anderson funeral home. Interment followed at Idlewilde cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Carrigan, a housewife who came to Hood River 27 years ago, are six sons, Carl Gallagher of Yuba City, Calif., Ivan Gallagher of Eureka, Calif,, Harlow Gallagher of Santa Maria, Calif., Leonard and Lester Gallagher, both of San Diego, Calif., and Kenneth Gallagher of Hood River; six sisters [correction - daughters] , Maude Miller of Santa Maria, Calif., Pearl Waddell of Hood River, Hazel Shane of Port Blakely, Wash., June Connett of Yamhill, Ore., Ona Hawthorne of Fullerton, Nebr., and Ila Nelson of Eureka, Calif. Fifty-three grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Carrigan was born April 7, 1878, in Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson. Funeral and burial services were at Hood River. She was preceded in death in 1920 by her first husband, Amos Gallagher, and by her second husband, Jarvis Carrigan, in 1937. She is survived by six sons and six daughters among whom are Mrs. Ona Hawthorne of Fullerton. The Gallagher family lived in Fullerton for a number of years.
