Bio

FLORENCE CITIZEN - DEMOCRAT - FLORENCE, FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO, USA - OCTOBER 25, 1917 MRS. BENJAMIN BEACH PASSES AWAY AT COAL CREEK Mrs. Beach, wife of Superintendent Benjamin Beach, of the C. F. and I. company, died at her home at Nushaft near Coal Creek this morning shortly after 3 o'clock after a lingering illness of several years. Her condition has been very grave for the past two weeks and all the children were called to Coal Creek ten days ago and were with her when the end came. Her vitality was considered remarkable and she made a heroic fight to the end. She had traveled considerable the past year and a half with the hope of getting relief and upon her return from Illinois several months ago, her condition showed much encouragement and she was able to be out and around. The family is among the old pioneers of Coal Creek and Florence and are highly respected. Deceased is survived by a husband and the following children: Mrs. James Tyson and Mrs. L. O. Smith, of Ideal, Colo.; and Allen Beach, Mrs. Katherine Hansen, Sydney Beach and Miss Eunice Beach, of Coal Creek. Richard Jones, of Ideal, is a brother of Mrs. Beach and he was also present when she died. No arrangements have been made for the funeral pending word from a sister in Illinois. Florence Paradox (weekly) Thursday November 1, 1917 The remains of Mrs. Beach were laid to rest in Highland cemetery last Saturday, Reverend Leech, of the M. E. church of Florence preaching the funeral oration. The burial was largely attended by the many friends made by the family during their long residence in this Locality. E. C. Weitzel, General Manager of the Fuel and Iron Company was among those who attended from a distance. Mrs. Annie Jackson, sister of the deceased, did not arrive, as she was confined to her bed at Braceville, Illinois with sickness.
