Bio

WILLIAM POWELL FARRAR was born on 4 September 1802 in Mecklenberg County Virginia to Samuel Farrar (1762-1818) & Elizabeth "Betsy" Phillips-Farrar (1766-1826). William married Hannah Minter circa 1825 in Chatham County, North Carolina, and they had SEVEN children of record: Joseph Pettus Farrar (1826-1860), Elizabeth Frances Farrar-(M1)Hurt-(M2)Winder (1829-?), William Thomas Farrar (1834-1895), Samuel Puryear Farrar (1836-?), John Morgan Farrar (1838-1880), Mary Rebecca Farrar-(M1)Lane-(M2)Dirks (1840-1919), & Dabney Alexander Farrar (1842-1843). After Hanna passed away, William was married a second time to Margaret Ann King-Farrar on 6 February 1844 in Putnam County, Georgia, and they had FOUR children of record: Benjamin King Farrar (1845-1941), Margaret Adelia Farrar (1846 -1939), Adelia D. Farrar (1849-1943), and Alexander "Alex" Parks Farrar (1850-1854), William married a third wife, Sarah Deming-Farrar on 10 Jun 1852 in Georgia, and they had THREE daughters: Sally Powell Farrar (1853-1917), Leila Maria Farrar (1857-before 1860), and Zana A. Farrar (1858-1913). William passed away on 1 October 1861, and was buried at Oakland Cemetery, in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.
