Bio

Iley H. Butler, of Montgomery Street, West Monroe, died early Wednesday following a long illness. He was 66. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe with the Rev. Filer J. Seal, officiating. Burial was made in the Mt. Pleasant Cem[e]tery west of Grayson. A native of Columbia, he had resided in West Monroe for 38 years. He was employed at Olin Mathieson Chemical Company and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Russ Butler; three sons, I. H. Butler Jr. of Columbia, H. M. Butler of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ronnie Butler of West Monroe, two daughters, Mrs. Aubrey McKeithen and Mrs. J. D. Salter, both of West Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Lula Butler of West Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Fisher and Mrs. Edna McHenry, both of West Monroe and Mrs. Beatrice Meredith of Alexandria and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were F. R. Foster, Bobbie Bruce, Richard Salters, Bobbie Meredith, Charles Mullin and Leroy Mixon. Published in The Caldwell Watchman (Columbia, LA), Thursday, April 15, 1965
