KNEBEL—Funeral services for George F. Knebel Sr., 74, of Bay City will be held at 10 am Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msgr. James Brunner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Rosary will be said at 6 pm Sunday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Knebel was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Weimar to Frank E. and Emelie Ripper Knebel and died Jan. 19, 1990, in Matagorda General Hospital. A member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, he was a Bay City resident since 1934. He owned and operated Knebel Refrigeration Service in Bay City and was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 3070, fourth degree member of St. Mary Star of the Sea General Assembly Council, member of Blessing American Legion Post 649, VFW Post 2438 in Bay City and WWII veteran. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Bures Knebel of Bay City; mother-in-law, Theresa Bures Krenek of Bay City; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and W. Travis Hicks of Bay City; son and daughter-in-law, George and Irene Knebel Jr. of Bay City; sister, Dorothy Knebel Jenkins of Palacios; brother, Eddie J. Knebel of Houston; three grandchildren, Kristi Jo Knebel, Williams Kent Hicks and Kimberly Claire Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Michael Kana, Mark Kana, Joe Jenkins, Ronnie Knebel, Donnie Knebel and Larry Knebel. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 649 and VFW Post 2438. Arrangements are with Taylor Funeral Home, Bay City. Daily Tribune January 1990
