Word of the death of Mary Margaret Linden Cady, wife of Alva B. Cady, was received today with expressions of deepest regret by a large circle of friends of the Cady family, for whom the loss of a beloved wife and mother is a very heavy blow. The end came this morning to Mrs. Cady at the family residence at 417 Fremont street, after a night of unconsciousness and dreadful pain. At 9:30 last night, with all the members of the family present, Mrs. Cady was given communion by Dean Thornberry, and she spoke a last few words to the family, who are left with a beautiful memory of her bravery in the face of suffering, and the spiritual uplift which her faith gave them. Shortly thereafter she elapsed into a coma and did not again regain consciousness. The funeral is to be held from the Cathedral Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment will be in the City cemetery. The out-of-town relatives have been notified and it is expected some of thern will come, including Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Cady of Fremont, Nebr. Mrs. Cady was born in Carroll county, Ohio, on August 23, 1867, her family removing to Nebraska when she was a small child. She was reared there and was married to Mr. Cady in that state on May 17, 1887. Four children, all of them born in Nebraska, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cady, and three of them reside in Laramie. They are Alonzo, 10, Charles Earl and Alice Cady Haskins, the youngest son, Claude dying before the family moved to Laramie. There are also two sisters, Rose Van Husen of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Bayne of Stockham, Nebr., and five brothers, Albert, Henry, John, Frank and Edward, all living near Grand Island, Nebr. There are six grandchildren, including the three daughters of Alonzo Cady and the two daughters and son of Earl Cady. The Cady family has resided in Laramie since 1906, since Mr. Cady was transferred here from Nebraska to be Union Pacific agent, and their circle of friends has been widened with each year. Mrs. Cady was a communicant of the Episcopal church. Her chief interest lay always in her home and she was a devoted wife and mother. A stroke of paralysis seven years ago made her a partial invalid, but she had continued her interest in her household duties in spite of her illness, until about a month ago, when her condition became critical. No effort has been spared to bring her relief from her almost constant suffering, and the members of the family and friends have lavished every attention on her. © Laramie Republican [Daily Edition] no. 298 July 28, 1922, page 8
