From "The Giltner Gazette", Giltner, Nebraska dated Thursday, June 17, 1948, Page 1: Albert Linden Funeral Sunday Funeral services for Albert Linden, a former Giltner resident, were held Sunday, June 14. After a prayer service in the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home, conducted by the Rev. William A. Hubbard of the Methodist church, a funeral was conducted in the Christian church at Giltner. The Rev. Claude Breidentha of Aurora officiated. Hymns were sung by a quartet consisting of Mrs. Vaughn Leurs, Miss Willa Leurs, LaVerne Keller ad Loren Ogden and with Ms. D. E. Magnuson playing the accompaniment. (Obituary) August Albert Linden, son of John and Mary Linden, was born at Chapman, Nebr., Oct. 27, 1885 and passed away at the St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 13 days. When eleven years of age, he lost his mother and thereafter he started on his own. He grew to manhood in the Phillips community, then with his brother, Ed, began to farm near Giltner. It was there he met and married Edna Detamore in Dec. 1908, and they lived in the neighborhood of Giltner and Phillips for 32 years. They then moved to a farm near Chapman and farmed in that community four years before returning to their home in Grand Island. After moving to Grand Island Albert was employed at the Nordin Laboratories until the time of his first stroke 1 ½ years ago. Mr. Linden joined the Christian Church in Giltner in 1928 where he was an active member. He was a devoted husband and father and a fiend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife; three children, Hubert Linden, Central City, Mrs. Louie Miller, Chapman, and Elmer Linden of Grand Island; two brothers, Frank and Ed of Litchfield and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; two sons, Donald and Forest Linden; one grandson, Dickie Eugene Linden; two brothers, Henry and John Linden, and four sisters, Mrs. Kate Bayne, Cady and Ellen Linden who died in Cady and Ellen indenL who died in infancy.
