Pleasant was the son of Samuel Byrd and Elizabeth Horn Byrd. He was the husband of Rachel Marinda Riggs Byrd. Pleasant was the brother of Mary Elizabeth, Emily, Lucinda, Jane Malissa"June", Nuscissa"Narcissa", William M."?Uriah?", Samuel Zedock and Jeremiah David Byrd. Children of Pleasant and Rachel were Mary Elizabeth, William Zadock, Martha Evaline, James Walter, Richard Oscar, Samuel Arthur, Wesley Marion, Franklin Uriah, Lucinda Beatrice, Jesse Key, Selma Pearson and Jeanette Verona Byrd.
