Rachel was the daughter of Stephen Riggs and "Unknown Norman". She was the wife of Rev.Pleasant Wesley Byrd. Rachel was the mother of Mary Elizabeth, William Zadock, Martha Evaline, James Walter, Richard Oscar, Samuel Arthur, Wesley Marion, Franklin Uriah, Lucinda Beatrice, Jesse Key, Selma Pearson and Jeanette Verona Byrd.
