Services honoring the life of Nellie F. Hodges, age 101, of Anton will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Anton with Rev. Bill Campbell, Pastor, officiating. Larry Bloskas of the Lawrence Ave. Church of Christ in Anton will assist. Burial will follow in the Littlefield Memorial Park with arrangements being entrusted to Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Nellie was born December 18, 1909 at Cottonwood, Texas to John T. and Stella (Borden) Griffin. She went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Lubbock, Texas. She married V.D. "Buck" Hodges October 31, 1926 at Snyder, Texas where they farmed until 1941 when they moved to the Whitharral area. They continued to farm until the death of her husband Buck, June 4, 1986 when she moved to Anton. She was a member of the Anton Senior Citizens and loved to Crochet, which she did for over 90 years. Nellie also loved to do quilting and gardening. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anton. In addition to her husband, Nellie was preceded in death by two sons, Otis Ralph Hodges and James Norman Hodges both in 2006. Survivors include one son, John C. Hodges, Anton, Texas; two sisters, Edna Hayworth, Big Spring, Texas and Ala Pluma, North Richland Hills, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. Pall Bearers will be Ryan Burkhardt, Michael Burkhardt, Shayne Hodges, John Hodges, J.D. Harrell, Mike Sea, Marty Sea and Craig Stone.
