Bio

Edna Mae Hayworth, 104, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, Texas at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Edna was born October 23, 1911 in Cottonwood, Texas to John T. Griffin and Stella Borden Griffin. They were a true pioneer family. She married Ben Hartley in 1928 and they moved to Big Spring, Texas in 1942. She lived there until October 10, 2014, when she moved to Midland to live with her son, Leonard Hartley. Edna married Marvin Hayworth in 1971 and gained a wonderful stepson and stepdaughter. Growing up on a farm, Edna enjoyed being outside, growing flowers and gardens. She mowed her own lawn until the age of 100! Edna loved being with family and watching all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Edna is survived by her son, Leonard J. Hartley of Midland; stepson, Jimmy Hayworth and wife, Harriett of Carrollton; grandchildren, Ty Hartley and wife, Shelley of Greenwood, Debra Davis and her husband, Leslie of Carrollton, Randy Hayworth and wife, Jennifer of Tulsa Oklahoma, Christy Hayworth of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Brandon McFarland and wife, Bethany, Nathan Hartley, Brenna Hartley, Kierstin Davis, Madison, Regan, Tatum and Gracie Hayworth; along with several wonderful nieces and nephews around the country; and wonderful friends in Big Spring, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; seven sisters; five brothers; her first husband, Ben Hartley; her second husband, Marvin Hayworth; daughter-in-law, Claudette Hartley; and granddaughter, Judy McFarland. The family would like to express their gratitude toward Hospice of Midland for all their help and support.
