"The LaFayette Sun" - March 18, 1914: Memory of Miss Mattie Clemons. The sad news of the death of Miss Mattie Clemons was received here last Tuesday. She was born in Chambers County in 1841 and at the time of her death was living at Dadeville. Those who knew her best loved her most. She was a loveable woman, even disposition, kind and affectionate. She leaves two brothers, Geo. Clemons near Dadeville and J. A. Clemons of Dadeville, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her death. Why mourn we over departed ones we know, They have gone to rest. We know a gem so pure and bright, Is numbered with the blest.
