Bonnie E. Blach was born on August 6, 1921 to Ambrose and Katherine (Brand) Blach on the family homestead north of Yuma, Colorado. She passed away on October 17, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Aurora at the age of 87. As the second oldest of eight children she was often responsible for helping her parents with her younger brother and sisters. Her mother taught her to e an excellent cook and a proficient seamstress. her responsibilities include feeing the chickens and livestock, snapping corn, working in the fields and of course, hoeing weeds. Her early school years were at the Hammond School a few miles from home. She recalls driving their Shetland pony, Beauty, and the buggy to school, often traveling with the Tribbett children as they rode their ponies. She graduated from Yuma in 1939. She spoke often of the many good teachers she had in school and remembered her high school years as being productive. [Illegible copy] Bonnie was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Denver attending daily Mass serving in many capacities in the Altar and Rosary Society, and volunteering on many projects through the years. [Illegible copy] Bonnie had a very dear friend, Jake Distil, throughout most of her life. They spent a lot of time together, and the family regarded him as "Uncle Jake". A low point in her life was when she lost Jake in 1990. Bonnie traveled wherever she had to, to attend the weddings of her 30 nieces and nephews. She missed very few of the important events in her family's lives. She lived life to the fullest, and by her example, encouraged everyone around her to do the same. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, for her wonderful stories and for her famous laugh. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Katherine Blach, special friend, Jake Distil, sisters, Betty Buchkowski, Gloria Norwood, and Annabelle Perlenfein, brothers-in-law, Raymond Willeke, George Norwood, Marion Gartin, Herbert Bachkowski, and Ernie Perlenfein, nieces, Ann Wegner and Patty Metzler, nephews, Craig Willeke and Bernie Blach. She is survived by sisters, Avis Willeke of Akron, Joan Gartin of Akron, and Charlotte and Weldon Wegner of Houston, Texas, and brother, Perry and Teresa Blach of Yuma and countless nieces and nephews and many friends.
