Sherman Democrat, October 9, 1974, Sherman, Texas: Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Horton - Barrett Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Virginia Ann Flowers, 78, who died Tuesday in a Sherman hospital after an extended illness. She made her home at the Sherman Nursing Center for the past several years... Rev. C. J. Graves, Methodist minister of Sherman and Rev. Norman W. Bruner of the Friendship Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of Friendship Methodist Church. Mrs. Flowers was born in Bells and had spent most of her life in this area. She was a member of Friendship Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors. She is survived by sons; James Luther Flowers of El Centro, California, Thomas F. Flowers of Bells and Preston O. Flowers of Sherman ; daughters, Mrs. O. E. Lilly of Dorchester and Mrs. Tom Taylor of McConnellsville, Ohio ; sister, Roxie Lee Goode of Bells ; half sister, Nora Hansard of Bells ; brothers, James Nelson Kidd and Charles Kidd of Bells ; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the Preston Flowers residence, 2029 E. Cherry Street.
