Sherman, Texas, April, 2008: Thomas F. "Toots" Flowers of Bells, 87 year old retired policeman for the city of Sherman, passed away at his home Tuesday evening, April 29, 2008. Services will be 10 a.m Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Truth Tabernacle in Denison. Rev. Robert Bernard and Rev. Novy Glass will officiate and burial will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Toots was born June 15, 1920 in Armstrong, Oklahoma, the son of James L. Flowers and Virginia Ann Kidd Flowers. He attended school as long as he could before he had to help support his family. He worked for a few years for the railroad and was employed as a police officer for the city of Sherman for thirty five years, retiring in 1987. He married Wilma Marie Good, November 23, 1940 in Grayson County. He had lived in Bells, Texas area for the last thirty seven years. Toots enjoyed all people and loved to talk and visit with his friends. It was common that when he was telling a story considered confidential to someone he would say "keep that under your hat" meaning do not say a word. He enjoyed tending to his pecan trees, gardening and growing vegetables which he gave much away to his family and friends. He enjoyed going out for dinner with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He has been a member of the Andrew Randell Masonic Lodge and was a Thirty second degree mason. He is survived by his daughter, Sadie Brown of Bells ; brother, P. O. Flowers and wife, Sadie of Sherman ; sisters, Pauldine Lilly of Dorchester and Merriel Taylor of Ohio ; two granddaughters, Mandy Thomas and husband, Paul and Melinda Easley and husband, Michael, all of McKinney ; four great granddaughters, Miranda and Micayla Thomas of McKinney, Taylor Easley and Mackinsey Easley, both of Sherman and a great grandson, Paul Edward Thomas 1V of McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in February of 2003, a son, Richard Thomas Flowers and a daughter, Patricia Louise Flowers, both who passed away at a young age ; also a brother, Luther Flowers of California and a son-in-law, Jerry Don Brown.
