Merrell Lou Flowers Taylor Posted: Wednesday, November 22, 2017 9:57 am - Morgan County Herald Edited by Family Member Merrell Lou Flowers Taylor, 82, of McConnelsville, was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Sherman, TX, to James Lafayette "Fate"and Virginia Ann Kidd Flowers. She was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. She was employed at the Mayor’s Office, in McConnelsville, and at the Morgan County Health Department for a combined total of over 45 years of her life. She is survived by three sons, Tom II (Cheryl), Tim and Jeff of McConnelsville; and one daughter, Deborah Ann "Babs" Taylor Gavin of Cambridge; one grandson, Zachary Dean Gavin; and two granddaughters, Amanda Dianne Carter and Chassie Lynn Gavin; five great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Kyle, Tyler, and Morgan Carter of Oak Hill, and David Jenkins of McConnelsville; one sister, Pauldeane Virginia Lilly of Sherman Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 39 years and six months, Thomas H. Taylor Sr., on October 8, 1994, whom she married on April 8, 1955, in Sherman, TX; three brothers, Preston Orr "PO" Flowers (Sadie) of Sherman, TX, Thomas Francis "Toots" Flowers (Wilma Marie) of Bells, TX, and James Luther Flowers (Arvia) of El Centro, CA; brother-in-law, Oneal E. Lilly of Sherman, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and one grandson, Jeremy (stillborn). A private family service will be held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 25, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home, in McConnelsville, with Pastor Adam Satterthwaite officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield Cemetery. In lieu if flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the M-M Fire Department/EMS, 77 South Fourth Street, McConnelsville, OH.
