Herald Coaster, February 9, 1998: Funeral services for Frances Wanek Poncik, 94, of Needville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 10, at the Garmany & Carden Chapel in Needville, with the Rev. George Kuebler officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Van Vleck. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy, Sylvia, Bryan, Jennifer, and Michael Pietrowski, and Tony Lee Poncik. Honorary pallbearers will be Nancy, Laura, Leigh, and Tanner Poncik. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Mon., Feb. 9 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 3103 School St. in Needville. Mrs. Poncik died on Sun., Feb. 8, 1998, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was born on Nov. 14, 1903 in Wallis, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Wanek. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, and a good cook. She is survived by her son, Sylvester Poncik and his wife, Ruby, of Needville; a daughter-in-law, Annie Poncik of Bay City; grandchildren, Tony Lee Poncik and his wife, Nancy of LaVernia, Sylvia Pietrowski and her husband, Andrew, of Buda; great-grandchildren, Laura Leigh Poncik and Tanner Poncik of La Grangeville, NY, Bryan, Jennifer, and Michael Pietrowski of Buda; step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Hurley of LaVernia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Simon Lee Poncik, seven brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ Building Fund, 9018 Church St., Needville, TX 77461.
