Bio

Herald Coaster, May 7, 1971: John Wanek, 85, of Rosenberg, died Friday in a local nursing home. Survivors include his widow, Lydia of Rosenberg; sisters, Mrs. Mary Zbranek of Rosenberg and Mrs. Frances Poncik of Needville; brothers, Frank and Ed of Rosenberg, Joe of Hallettsville, August of Rosenberg, and Willie of West Columbia. Services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Rosary will be held Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at the Triska Chapel in Rosenberg. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday.
