Bio
Funeral services were held in Soledad, California on December 15 for Frank Joseph Haas. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday with graveside services in San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine, California. He was the son of Elizabeth (Raabe) and Julius Haas. He was born on June 5, 1915. He died at the age of 79. Mr. Haas served in the army from 1941 to 1946 and in the Air Force from 1946 until 1961. Serving four years in Germany. He was a food supervisor with Soledad State Prison for seventeen years. He lived in Soledad for twenty-two years. He was a member of Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church and a Veteran of Foreign Wars in Salinas, California. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca (Waller) Haas; a son, Kevin Haas of Cottonwood, Arizona; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Carson of Tomball, Alvina Otto of Weimar, and Helen Hanzelka from Louise, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Wilhelmina Otto, Theresa Raabe, Mary Hanzelka and Alma Pohl, all from Texas. Published in The Weimar Mercury on January 19, 1995.
