Bio

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Haas, 81, of Glidden, were held Monday afternoon, March 21, at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael's Catholic Church, with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery. Rev. Albert Hubertus officiated. Mrs. Haas died Saturday, March 19, at 7:15 p.m. in Youens Hospital here. The former Miss Elizabeth Raabe, daughter of Emanuel and Anna Hoelscher Raabe, she was born Dec. 30, 1884, at Westphalia. She was married to Julius Haas on Nov. 15, 1910, and they settled on a farm near Borden. In 1950 they retired from farming and moved to Glidden. Mr. Haas died in January 1962. Mrs. Haas is survived by one son, Frank J. Haas of Highlands, Calif.; seven daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Wilhelmina) Otto, Mrs. Alfred (Theresia) Raabe, and Mrs. Edmund (Alvina) Otto, all of Weimar, Mrs. Anna Henry of Houston, Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Hanzelka of Hungerford, Mrs. Johnnie (Helen) Hanzelka of Orchard, and Mrs. Harbett (Alma) Pohl of Hallettsville; 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Mary) May of Lott Pallbearers were her grandsons, Marvin Otto, Melvin Otto, Reuben Otto, Elo Raabe, David Henry Jr. and Edward Mika.
