James Lincoln Irwin, son of John Lewis Irwin & Clara Mathilda Johnson, was born June 2, 1890 in Olivet, Price County, Wisconsin, died August 17, 1929 in Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, aged 39 years, 2 months and 15 days, and was buried in the Blandford, Petersburg, Petersburg City, Virginia On Jan. 4, 1922, at Petersburg, Virginia, James was united in marriage to Belva Mae Clevenger, born February 26, 1901 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, daughter of Noah and Carrie Clevenger. She died November 10, 1978 in Ravenel, Charleston County, South Carolina, aged 77 years, 8 months and 14 days, and was buried there in the Ravenel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Their only child, born in Chesterfield County, Virginia, was: Clara Mae Irwin born 27 Nov 1922 James was a river pilot and worked on a sand dredge on the James and Appomattox rivers. He apparently died in an unwitnessed accident or was killed August 17, 1929 on the sand dredge with his body recovered the same day in 20 feet of water with a crushed skull.
