Bio

Blaine DeWitt Irwin, son of John Lewis Irwin & Clara Mathilda Johnson, was born August 13, 1891 in Olivet, Price County, Wisconsin, died June 24, 1982 in Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia, aged 90 years, 10 months and 11 days, and was buried there besides the remains of his wife in Sunset Memorial Park. On April 24, 1926, at Petersburg, Virginia, Blaine was united in marriage to Marion Elsen, born June 27, 1905 in New Jersey, daughter of John M. & Ethel A. Elsen. She died October 16, 1988 in Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia, aged 83 years, 3 months and 20 days, and was buried and was buried three in sunset Memorial Park. They were childless. Both Blaine and Marion share a double headstone with there longtime friends Norris E. Jones, Sr. and his wife, Glennis Picardat Jones. In about 1908 Blaine lost his left arm below the elbow in a hunting accident while going through a fence with a loaded shotgun. He obtained an prosthesis and was never handicapped because of the accident. He was proud to say "What other men can do with two I can do with one."
