Bio
Dorothy Mae Jurasek Baros, 95, of El Campo, passed away July 13, 2018. She was born July 7, 1923 in rural Wharton County near El Campo to Charles and Albina Fiala Jurasek. She attended schools in the Louise and Carancahua areas She married Ed J. Baros on Feb. 1, 1944 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, was an expert seamstress and loved growing roses. She always enjoyed visiting with people. In later years, traveling and going gaming were two of her favorite things to do. She took many trips, visiting many states, making good friends. Dorothy was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Our Lady Queen of Peace No. 1374, SPJST Lodge 30 of Taiton, Life Member of Wharton County Retired Teachers Association; she retired from the central cafeteria of the El Campo ISD in 1992 after 23 years of service. Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Annie Dolezal of Palacios and Evelyn Capak and husband George of Palacios; sister-in-law, Evelyn Jurasek of San Antonio; nieces and nephews, Helen Dolezal, Billy Dolezal, Daryl Capak and wife Kim and Steve Capak, all of Palacios, Susan Brown of Hunt, Shirley Moore of San Antonio and Otto Uhrbrock Jr. and wife Hsiu of McAllen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, John L. Jurasek and brother-in-law, Victor Dolezal. Visitation will be held from 3 - 6 p.m. Monday, July 16 at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass following at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery in New Taiton. Pallbearers were be Billy Dolezal, Daryl Capak, Steve Capak, Robert Robinson, Raymond Mach and Tom Chandler.
