Note: This woman is "Frantiska Borucka" on her tombstone (written in Czech), but "Fannie Boriskie" on her death certificate. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Saturday, December 5, 1914, p. 4: Mrs. Fannie Boriskie of near College died this morning in Houston, where she had gone in the interest of her health. The remains were brought home for burial and the funeral will be held at the old Rector Chapel cemetery tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. A more extended notice will appear later. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Thursday, December 10, 1914, p. 8: Death has again visited our community and taken from us our beloved mother and friend, Mrs. Fannie Boriskie. One of God's choicest jewels has been taken from us to help adorn the heavenly courts. The subject of this sketch was born in Boheimia, Austria, March 9, 1850; died December 5, 1914, making her 64 years, 5 months and 27 days of age. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Krenek, to Texas in 1857, settling in Fayette County, where at the early age of 16 she was married to John Boriskie, to which union there were fourteen children, then of whom are living, as follows: E. J. Boriskie, College Station; J. M. Boriskie, Bryan; J. A. Boriskie, Smetana; V. J. Boriskie, College Station; Mrs. Annie Prince, Houston; Mrs. Fannie Stasny, College Station; Mrs. Victoria Turek, College Station; Mrs. Tommy Basin, Houston; Mrs. Mary Boehme, San Antonio; Miss Annie Boriskie, College Station. She leaves twenty-seven grandchildren, two brothers, George and Ed Krenek of College Station; one sister, Mrs. Annie Pewetz of Runge, to mourn her death, besides a number of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Mr. and Mrs. Boriskie came to Brazos County thirty-five years ago, renting one year within one hundred yards of where the present home now stands. Her husband, the late John Boriskie, preceded her to the grave twenty years, leaving her with a house full of small children to rear and educate, and peace and God's blessing to her saintly soul, by hard work and an untiring vigil she was spared to live to see them all grown to manhood and womanhood and filling honorable positions. Well can the writer remember the early coming to this community of this Godly woman. As a neighbor, there was nothing she could do too good for you, ever ready at any hour, day or night, to visit the sick and needy, and charitable to a fault. As a Christian there were none more consecrated and devout, ever punctual and faithful to her church duties, going to confession and Holy Communion just a few short hours before she went to the operating table. Dear children, words are such poor substitutes to convey to you the sympathy that we have for you. But we would urge you in the words of your beloved father to keep your dear mother's life ever fresh in your memory. Try by concept and example to live the life she has taught you from infancy to the present day, and then when life shall be coming to a close for you, death shall hold no terrors. You can say, as your saintly mother, if it's God's will, I am ready to go. The blessed Christ that taketh away the sin of the world says come home, to the home "I have prepared for you from the foundation of the world; enter into my joys, ye faithful." She is gone, but on and on forever will her noble deeds live green in the memory of those who knew her best. Written by a friend, ANDREW J. TABOR Jr. Bryan, Texas, Route 3. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Thursday, December 10, 1914, p. 4: To the many kind friends who so kindly remembered us in our great affliction, the loss of our dear mother, we take this means of thanking you for the many kindnesses shown. May God bless each and every one is the prayer of her children. E. J. Boriskie, J. A. Boriskie, J. M. Boriskie, V. J. Boriskie, Mrs. Annie Prince, Mrs. Fannie Stasny, Mrs. Victoria Turek, Mrs. Tony Basin, Mrs. Mary Boehme, Miss Albina Boriskie.
