Darleen Faye Severance, 65, of Ord died May 9, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Darlene was born Sept. 28, 1945, at Ord to Jimmie and Georgia (Vasicek) Turek. Survivors are: husband, Eugene Severance of Ord; son and daughter-in-law, Darcy and Denese Severance of Ord; daughters, Eugenia Johnson of Irving, Texas, and Amber Severance and her significant other, Reggie Brown of Ord; and brothers, Milton, Jerome and James Turek, all of Ord; grandchildren, Blake and Chelsey Anderson, Kristin, Karlee, Kora, Kloe and Garret Severance and Jacob and Maya Brown. Darleen was raised on a farm southeast of Ord and attended District 16 rural school through the 8th grade and Ord High School through the 10th grade. On Sept. 9, 1961, Darleen was united in marriage to Eugene Arnold Severance at Burwell. To this union three children were born. The Severances' resided in Ord where they raised their family. From 1972 to 1999, Darleen was co-owner with her husband, Eugene of D & G Service. She worked in any necessary capacity from office manager to repairing radiators. Darleen was someone who seemed to exist for the sole purpose of caring for and being kind to others. In 1989, she became a certified C.N.A. and worked for the Corner Cottage for a number of years. Caring for the elderly was a theme that continued throughout her life being done without regard to personal gain. In 2001, she acquired her G.E.D. and returned to driving a school bus until 2004, when she was forced to retirement due to her health. Darleen has been a member of the Ord Christian Church since 1958, where she actively served and contributed and belonged to the Lamp Lighters Extension Club. She enjoyed collecting angels and especially enjoyed her role as a caregiver and spending time with her grandchildren. Darleen was preceded in death by her parents.
