Fairfield Ia. Ledger Monday April 1, 1968 Earl DANA Dies At Ottumwa Earl E. DANA, 80, former Fairfield businessman, died Sunday at 11:20 p.m. at the Jefferson Square Manor Nursing Home in Ottumwa. He had been in failing health the past year. Before moving to Ottumwa 31 years ago, DANA had been in the oil business in Fairfield for over 20 years. He had been employed by the John Morrell Company in Ottumwa for 14 years prior to his retirement. Last rites will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Earl E. DANA was born March 25, 1888 (sic. Earl had a twin brother, Clarence, by the way),at Fairfield, the son of George and Harriett WOLF DANA (sic. a/k/a Hattie Eliza WOLF DANA). He was married to Bertene M. HUMPHREYS on Oct. 25, 1911. She died May 16, 1957. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy JOHNSON, Ottumwa, and two grandchildren; one brother, Clarence DANA, Fairfield; and two sisters, Jennie WEST, Clarks, Neb.; and Mrs. William KANN, Fairfield. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one son, one brother and a sister.
