Glasco Sun, Sept. 18, 1908, page 3: Obituary On Saturday morning, Sept. 12th, the citizens of Glasco were greatly shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Donald Gray. While about her household duties, even in the midst of a conversation, she was suddenly stricken and passed away, painlessly. Mary F. Pilcher was born in Ottawa, LaSalle Co., Ill., September 16, 1849. In October 1877 she came to Glasco, Kansas. In 1879 she became a member of the Methodist church. On the 24th of March 1891 (transcriber's note -- should be 1881) she was married to R.M. Gray, and went with him to the Presbyterian church. She leaves besides her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Everley, three sons, Waldo, Howard, and Ernest. Four brothers also survive her. Mrs. Gray was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian church of this city, and the Dorcas society of this organization experiences in her death the loss of a faithful and efficient co-worker. As a home maker she was faithful and loving, her door ever open to her guests; as neighbor and friends she was ever ready to give time and strength in sickness and sorrow. On Tuesday morning funeral services were held from the home, the Rev. J.B. Robinson conducting the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. Cyrus Lattin, the Rev. Mr. McMillan and the Rev. J.T. Bates. The floral offerings were rarely beautiful and the long line of carriages which formed a procession to the silent city of the dead, testified to the esteem with which Mrs. Gray was regarded. The family has the sympathy of the entire city. CARD OF THANKS Mr. R.M. Gray and family extend our heart felt thanks to those who so kindly helped us in words and deeds in the loss of our dear mother, and may the Lord bless you all, is our prayer.
