More details about Frank's early life in Bohemia and immigration can be found on the memorial for his mother, Frantiska Pelikan. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Wilber Republican, December 31, 1964: Funeral services for Frank Pelican, Sr., 89, who died at his home in Wilber on Saturday December 26, were held from the Zajicek Funeral home on Monday, December 28. Born in Czechoslovakia on November 9, 1875, he was the son of John and Frances Henzl Pelican. On December 3, 1901, he was married to Bessie Hrdlicka at Wilber. The family farmed west of Wilber until 1949 when they moved to Wilber to retire. He was a member of the Saline Center ZCBJ Lodge No. 389. His survivors include his wife Bessie of Wilber; two daughters Mrs. Elsie Schwarz of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Mrs. Sylvia Jelinek of Wilber; two sons Otto Pelican and Frank Pelican Jr. both of Wilber; one brother Anton Pelican of Palmer; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Helen Pelican, a sister Frances Kolar, one brother, John Pelican and a grandson Marvin Pelican. Services were conducted by Rev. Marion Knoell and Joseph Vosoba for ZCBJ Lodge No 389, Saline Center, with a song service by Milo Chaloupka accompanied by Mrs. G. W. Zajicek. Pallbearers were Adolph Horak, Frank Chyba, John M. Homolka, Frank Rezny, Clarence Jirka and Robert Horak.
