From the Athens Review November 1, 1928 Mrs. S.G. Nettles, aged 76 years, wife of former County Commissioner S.G. Nettles, of LaRue, died at the family home Wednesday night at 8:00 o'clock. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the LaRue Methodist church by the pastor, Rev. Hughes. Interment in the local cemetery. Besides her husband, Mrs. Nettles is survived by six daughters: Mrs. B.P. Curtis, Mrs. C.R. Williford, Mrs. Tom Williford, Mrs. E.C. Crews, Mrs. J.M. Miller of LaRue and Mrs. M.F. Wood of Athens. Mrs. Nettles was a good, Christian wife and mother, a splendid neighbor and was held in the greatest esteem by the host of friends who knew and loved her. She lived most of her life in the LaRue community and for many years was prominent in the social and religious life of the community. Her death cast a pall of sadness over the entire community and her presence will be missed by the many who mourn her loss. Messrs. John Earl Reynolds, Reagan Otts, Felton Hill, Charlie Curtis, Percy Otts, and Jim Bob Curtis, grandchildren of Dallas were present for the funeral of Mrs. Nettles.
