Bio

On October 27, 1892 as J.D. Young, he married Leona Scroggins at Henderson County, Texas. John Young, age about 70, former citizen of Henderson County, died at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday morning following a stroke of paralysis suffered about a week previous. At his bedside at the time of his death were Joe Young, a brother and Gordon, a son. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with burial at New York Cemetery. Mr. Young was a resident of this county for a number of years. He formerly engaged in business in Athens and later moved to LaRue where he joined his brother in business for many years. He sold out some ten years ago and went to Del Rio to engage in the ranching business. Mr. Young was thrice married and is survived by his wife and the following children: Gordon Young of Mabank; Bryan Young of LaRue; Mrs. Charlie Chappell of Jacksonville and Mrs. J.C. Barbee of Del Rio. He is also survived by two brothers, Joe of LaRue and H.E. Young of Cartersville, Georgia and two sisters, Mrs. W.M. Gauntt of Athens and Mrs. Charlie Otts of LaRue.
