1940 census Chico, Butte, CA: Peter Hanson, aged 64, bp Denmark; Marie aged 53, bp Norway; Harvy aged 28, house cleaning private family; Walter aged 26 -- both born MN; Donald aged 22, carpentry golf links, bp MT. ~~~ Chico Record daily newspaper, Monday, 19 May 1947, pg 5, column 4: WALTER HANSEN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS. Walter Marlin Hanson, 35, of 1041 Deveney Avenue, died yesterday at the Southern Pacific Hospital in San Francisco after a lingering illness. Hanson was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in 1942 and served three years overseas with the 10th Air Services Squadron in the Pacific Theater. He was born at Milan, Minn., January 27, 1914 and came to Chico several years ago. Besides his widow, Mildred, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Marie Hansen of Chico; two brothers, Elmo of Orland, and Harvey of Chico, and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Jasper of Orland. The body was brought here last evening to the Brusie Funeral Home. Time of services will be announced later. ~~~ On Wednesday, 21 May 1947, The Sacramento Bee newspaper carried the following in THE BEE'S SUPERIOR CALIFORNIA NEWS, on pg 12, column 8, DEATHS. HANSON – In San Francisco May 17, 1947. Walter Merlin Hanson of Chico, Butte County, husband of Mrs. Mildred Hanson of Chico, son of Mrs. Marie Hanson of Chico, brother of Harvey Hanson of Chico and Elmo Hanson and Mrs. Thelma Jasper, both of Orland, Glen County; a native of Minnesota, age 35 years. Funeral services were held May 20, 1947, in Chico."
