Samuel Johnson and his twin brother Joseph E. were born 24 Apr 1842, Newton County, MS. No record has been found indicating which brother is the oldest. Samuel's grandfather, William Samuel Johnson had a twin sister, Diannah Johnson, both born 21 Mar 1799, Robertson, TN. Samuel and Joe both enlisted in the CSA Army, 3rd Confederate Regiment (AL), Company C. They were captured, released and paroled in April 1865, Hillsboro, NC. Both brothers drew CSA Soldier's Pensions. Sam was a member of Camp W. N. Estes, United Confederate Veterans of DeKalb County, AL. Sam married Mary Jane Coleman, 25 Dec 1872, Marshall County, AL. They had two daughters, Jewell Johnson King and Lyla P. Johnson Holloman. Sam died 02 Apr 1925 in Valley Head, DeKalb, AL after being hit by a northbound train whose fireman was his grandson, Jake Holloman. Sam is buried in White Hall Cemetery along with his wife Mary Jane, his brother Joe and his sister Matilda Ann Johnson Hickson (Hixon). Parents: Father: John R. Johnson, Mother: Eliza Venable Sister: Matilda Ann Johnson Brother: Joseph E. Johnson (Submitted by Find A Grave contributor Charles Shipp 5/27/16 & 2/23/17) Sam Johnson and Mary Jane (Coleman) actually just had one daughter, who is also buried in DeKalb County, as Lula B. Holleman. Lula died when her two children, Ernest Johnson Holleman and Jewell Mae (Holleman) King were both very small. Sam and Mary Jane raised Jewell; and Ernest was raised by his father, Thomas Wheeler 'Bud' Holleman, and T. W.'s two later wives. All are buried in DeKalb County, and I have sent link edits.
