w/o Henry Hixon ∼ Matilda Ann "Tilda" Johnson was born , 10 Apr 1844 in DeKalb County AL to John R. and Elizabeth Ann Venable Johnson. She married Henry C. Hickson on 09 Nov 1859 at age 15 in DeKalb County, AL. They moved to Newton County, MS in 1860. They had six children in 18 years: Louisa E, John Runnels, Stacy Ellen, William Chitwood, Joseph Ezekial, and Mary Jane. Her husband, Henry died 15 Jun 1887, Hickory, Newton, MS at the age of 45. They had been married 27 years. Matilda affirmed in her Confederate Widow's Pension Application that she lived in MS for about 15 years and returned to DeKalb County, AL in 1890. She drew a Confederate Widow's Pension receiving approximately $1400 in 25 years.
