Bio

Joe E. (possibly Joseph Ezekial) was born 24 Jun 1842, Newton, County, MS along with his twin brother Samuel. Information is not available as to which brother was the oldest. His grandfather, William Samuel Johnson had a twin sister, Diannah Johnson, both born 21 Mar 1799, Robertson, TN. Joe and Sam both served in the CSA, Co C, 3rd Confederate AL Regiment and both received CSA Confederate Soldiers' Pensions. Joe and Sam were both members of Camp W. N. Estes, United Confederate Veterans of DeKalb County, AL. Joe married Sarah Shankle, 28 Aug 1873, DeKalb County, AL at Sarah's mother's home. Joe, Sarah, his brother Sam and his wife Mary Jane Coleman Johnson lived in the same house in Valley Head, DeKalb, AL. There is no record of Joe and Sarah having any children. Bio submitted by Find A Grave contributor Charles Shipp 5/27/2016. Sam Johnson and Mary Jane (Coleman) actually just had one daughter, who is also buried in DeKalb County, as Lula B. Holleman. Lula died when her two children, Ernest Johnson Holleman and Jewell Mae (Holleman) King were both very small. Sam and Mary Jane raised Jewell; and Ernest was raised by his father, Thomas Wheeler 'Bud' Holleman, and T. W.'s two later wives. All are buried in DeKalb County, and I have sent link edits.
