Bud passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Boone County Health Center at the age of 76. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE, Fr. Stan Schmit officiating with burial in the St. Michael's Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. wake service at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. Herold "Bud" Eldon Zabka, son of George and Josephine (Libra) Zabka, was born on April 13, 1934 in Boone, Nebraska. He lived with his family in the Akron area where he attended elementary school. In 1945 he moved with his family to a farm north of Albion where he graduated from the 8th Grade at Boone County School District #13. On January 6, 1953 he entered the United States Army and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1954. Bud returned to St. Edward where he married Maxine Reardon on April 27, 1957 at St. Edward Catholic Church. They lived in St. Edward until 1964 and then moved to a farm north of Albion. Bud worked road construction in his early years, Staska Drilling until 1985, Zabka-Cloeter Irrigation until 1987 and then managed the Vet's Club with his wife until 1997. He was a member of the Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #736. Surviving Bud is his wife Maxine of Albion; 6 children: Kelly Bader and husband James; Shari Buettner and husband Arnold; Jill Imus and husband Lowell; Jana Molt and husband Glen; and Lori Zabka, all of Albion; Lisa Kennedy and husband James of Cedar Rapids; 11 grand children; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 7 step great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Jo Homolka and husband Chuck of Albion; Betty Miller and husband Jim of Belgrade, NE; 1 brother: Adolph Zabka and wife Trenda of Swanton, NE; 3 sister-in-laws: Jocelyn Christensen of St. Edward; Mary Zabka of Albion and Bernadine Bonneau and husband Leo of Grand Island; Brother and sister-in-law: Pat and Deanna Reardon of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Dennis; 4 brothers: Raymond, Joseph, George and Marvin; 2 sisters: Agnes Fulsaas and Helen Morris; 2 brother-in-laws: Roy Fulsaas and Charles Morris; and a Sister-in-law: Judy Zabka, and two nephews Rick Zabka and Terry Fulsaas.
