Doris L. Bartlett, 50, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at home. Doris was born July 28, 1960, in Tucson, Ariz., to Paula Wendt and Frank Hoover. At age three, she and her younger sister Gail Wendt, were fostered by her Aunt and Dorothy (Wendt) Molczyk and her husband, George. Her birth mother was not involved in her upbringing and she considered her Aunt and Uncle her real parents. Doris was preceded in death by son, Joshua. Survivors are: husband, Daryl; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Heather Bartlett; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Zach Peters; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Dorothy Molczyck; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Bill Earl, Bev and Scott Myers, Cathy and Tim Bartlett and Lori and Stan McIntire; grandchildren, Brock Dankert, Autumn Peters, Patrick Schofield and Braxton Bartlett. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Arthur and Verna Bartlett; and an aunt, Marvel Hoover. Doris was united in marriage to Daryl Bartlett on Feb. 14, 1979, in Grand Island, where they made their home. She was employed by Trinity Lutheran Church and worked in the Rainbow Room there for nearly 15 years until her health no longer permitted her to work. Doris loved her garden and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, drawing, painting, camping, watching birds and nature. She loved giving hugs and kisses and snuggling. Doris was a person who was there to help people. Doris was more than a mom to her own kids but a mom to everyone. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 11/29/2010
